Snoop Dogg developing original drama series for HBO
Snoop Dogg, the rapper behind cultural behemoth "Gin and Juice," is executive producing a new family drama series for HBO.
The series, set in 1980s Los Angeles, centers around a family "whose seemingly idyllic life is turned upside down by the collision of their community and American politics," according to Deadline. Discussing the show at his keynote address during South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, Snoop said it's "a dream come true to be able to tell a story that's going to be told the right way on the right network." Allen Hughes, of The Book of Eli fame, has been tapped to direct.
Mr. Dogg has been quite busy these days, between his appearance on the Empire finale Thursday, his keynote speech, and his recent spot in an anti-gun PSA.

Perhaps the show is an elaborate ploy to get a guest spot on HBO's Game of Thrones, of which Snoop is reportedly a fan.
