An Afghan solider on Wednesday turned his gun on U.S. troops, killing one and wounding at least two more before being shot dead. The attack came shortly after a meeting between Afghan provincial leaders and a U.S. diplomat, though officials could not immediately confirm whether that was the motive for the attack.

"Right after the U.S. official had left, suddenly an Afghan army soldier opened fire on the U.S. soldiers who were present in the compound," a regional police chief told The Associated Press.
