Minions had the second-best box office opening weekend ever for an animated movie
Minions, better known as potentially foul-mouthed yellow Tic Tacs, haven't just taken over internet memes: They've been earning their keep at the box office, too.
The opening weekend of Minions netted Universal Pictures a franchise-record $115.2 million. That's the second-biggest opening weekend showing for an animated film, right behind Shrek the Third, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Despicable Me prequel also marks the widest North American release yet for Universal Pictures — the little goobers debuted in 4,301 theaters.
