An ABC News/Washington Post poll released Monday found that 56 percent of Americans support the Iran nuclear deal announced last week. Curiously, only 35 percent of the 1,002 adults polled actually think it will succeed in preventing Iran from producing nuclear weapons and allowing international inspections at its facilities.

The deal, which the U.S. and five other world powers worked out with Iran, has also met criticism from Israel, along with Republican legislators and presidential candidates. Congress has 60 days to review the deal and propose legislation, but Obama has said he will veto anything that shoots down the historic agreement.
