Rachel Maddow: Bernie Sanders is 'making the Beltway press remember that there are liberals'

Rachel Maddow is a Bernie Sanders fan

Some Democrats and their supporters are nervous about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) doing so well in the Democratic presidential primaries. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow isn't among them. "It's awesome to see him getting as much" attention as he is, she told Seth Meyers on Wednesday's Late Night. "I'm a liberal, and so to see liberals turning out in Texas, and in Arizona, and in Colorado, and in all these places that he's turning out these huge crowds, it's like, Oh right, my people are everywhere."

Sanders is heading to Louisiana next, which is not a place where liberals normally go to stump, she said, adding:

Bernie Sanders is fearless, and he will turn out a big crowd everywhere he goes. The thing that I think is really nice about it is it's sort of making the Beltway press remember that there are liberals, which doesn't usually happen. We pay so much attention to the Republican Party and how they deal with their crazies, and the people who are really far-right in that party, you forget the Democratic Party has real liberals as part of its constituency. And he's rewarding people who want to go out and hear an unapologetic liberal message. [Maddow, on Late Night]

Did Maddow call Sanders one of the Democratic Party's "crazies"? You can judge for yourself, and watch Maddow and Meyers laugh at the viral videos other politicians are rolling out to try to grab some attention, below. Peter Weber
