Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will announce on Friday that he is opposed to the nuclear deal with Iran, three sources familiar with his plan told The Huffington Post.

Proponents of the deal had hoped that if Schumer, the chamber’s third-ranking Democrat, did decide to oppose it, he would have waited to make his announcement. Earlier in the week, Politico reported that there were several signs he would oppose the deal: He received more than 10,000 phone calls against it, and he was lobbied by the powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee. On Thursday, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) announced their support for the deal.
