Vicki Gardner, wounded in the WDBJ shooting on live TV, is home from the hospital
The woman who was shot while giving an on-air interview in southwest Virginia in August was released from the hospital in good condition, a hospital spokesman told The New York Times Tuesday.
Vicki Gardner, director of a local Chamber of Commerce, was chatting live with WDBJ's Alison Parker when a gunman fatally shot the reporter and her cameraman, Adam Ward. Former WDBJ employee Vester Lee Flanagan II also shot Gardner in the back before leaving the scene and killing himself.
Gardner underwent two surgeries at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital to remove her right kidney and part of her colon, according to a statement on the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce website.
