Following his termination last month, Air Force Reserve Major Brad Podliska filed a lawsuit against the House Benghazi Committee Monday, alleging that Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy "broke the law by defaming him in their public battle over Podliska's firing," MSNBC reports.

Gowdy says that Podliska was "terminated partly for mishandling classified information," an allegation that Podliska says is false because the material he was handling was not classified. Podliska says he was fired because of his military obligations and his refusal to target Hillary Clinton — a particularly charged allegation considering the House Benghazi Committee has been accused of politicizing the attacks in Benghazi, Libya to hurt Clinton's political fortune.
