Former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) will reportedly endorse Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race, anonymous sources told CBS News and Politico on Sunday.
The decision is apparently related to Clinton's stance on gun control, which is often perceived as being stronger than primary opponent Bernie Sanders'. Giffords has become a leading advocate for gun control since she was shot in the head in a supermarket parking lot five years ago.
The Democratic primary race is tightening, according to a Marist/Wall Street Journal/NBC poll of likely voters released Sunday that showed Clinton up 48 percent to Sanders' 45 in Iowa, and Sanders up by 4 percentage points in New Hampshire.
