The mother of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black high school student who was fatally shot by George Zimmerman in 2012, endorsed Hillary Clinton for president Monday in a CNN article. Sybrina Fulton praised President Obama's recent emotion over and executive action on tightening gun control before suggesting Clinton is the right person to continue what he has started:
With so many of our children's lives on the line or taken, we simply can't afford to elect a Republican who refuses even to acknowledge the problem of senseless gun violence. The rising generation of our young people need a president who will stand up to inaction from Republicans and indifference from the National Rifle Association.I believe that person is Hillary Clinton. Another high-profile gun control advocate, former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.), is endorsing Clinton. Read the rest of Fulton's story here.
