One day ahead of Wednesday's drawing, lottery officials announced Tuesday that the already record-high Powerball payout has grown yet again to $1.5 billion. All of the hype over what's being called the world's largest prize ever has driven up ticket sales and, consequently, the value of the payout, which was initially estimated to be $1.3 billion.

The Powerball drawing has not seen a winner since November. The odds of winning the Powerball are 1 in 292 million.
