Powerball players waiting in 3-hour lines to buy tickets
Powerball fever is sweeping the nation, and the tiny town of Primm has become the place to go for players hoping to win the jackpot.
The lottery isn't available in Nevada, and residents are heading to towns like Primm, along the California state line, to try their luck with the Powerball. The Primm Lotto Store is about 45 miles from Las Vegas and last week sold a ticket that matched 5 of the 6 Powerball numbers — resulting in a $1 million prize, KTNV reports. Because so many people are descending upon Primm, the line to purchase tickets is sometimes three hours long. Nevada residents who want to try their luck but not spend a good chunk of the day in line are driving to Arizona and deeper into California for shorter lines.
The line at the Primm Lotto Store didn't bother Wayne Fabiano, who was certain he bought the winning ticket. "The thrill is to know that you've been chosen to be the only one to win," he told The Associated Press. "That's the real challenge, to release your faith and know that you've been picked and anointed to win. I know it's going to be me today." Catherine Garcia
