The baby who delighted Bernie Sanders at a rally by showing up in a white wig, glasses, and tie, died last month of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, his family announced. He was 4 months old.
After the photo of him dressed like Sanders went viral, Oliver Jack Carter Lomas-Davis of Los Angeles became affectionately known as "Bernie Baby." The pictures show Oliver being held by Sanders during a campaign stop in Las Vegas, with both Bernies smiling at each other. Sanders has been notified of Oliver's death, spokesman Michael Briggs said, and the campaign will release a statement. "It's very sad," Briggs said.
Oliver's aunt, Anastasia Lomas, told The Associated Press her nephew was "happy, joyful, and full of love, and he shared that with everyone he came into contact with. He was extremely healthy and was tragically taken too early by SIDS."
