Bowe Bergdahl's defense team wants to interview Donald Trump
Bowe Bergdahl's defense team requested Saturday to interview Donald Trump regarding his disparaging public comments about the soldier, Politico reports. Bergdahl, who was captured by militants in Afghanistan and tortured for years after leaving his post in 2009, faces military court charges of desertion and endangering fellow soldiers.
In October, the Republican presidential frontrunner told a crowd at a rally that Bergdahl "should have been executed."
Bergdahl's team has suggested Trump's comments "irreparably compromised" the sergeant's right to a fair trial.
