Before Steve Martin and Stephen Colbert launched into a duet on Tuesday's Late Night, they had a brief talk about show-biz "phonies" and the importance of having true friends. Colbert suggested they sing a song about friendship, and Martin started picking his banjo. It all goes swimmingly until Steve brings up Gary. Then things got a little uncomfortable. "We've met, like, twice," Martin said. "TV friends isn't the same as being real friends." The skit could have gone in a lot of directions from there, but ultimately it resolved fairly harmoniously.
