At least 10 people were reported killed and 150 others trapped on Thursday when an under-construction overpass in central Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) collapsed onto traffic below. Rescue personnel and passersby tried to dig people from under the metal and concrete, or hand water to trapped survivors. "The condition is pathetic," Raichand Mohta, a police officer at the scene, told Reuters. "At this moment no one has any clue how many people are trapped."
