Stephen Colbert learned last week that many African Americans carry hot sauce with them, something bandleader Jon Batiste said Colbert should probably have already known. He learned this cultural nugget, Colbert said on Monday's Late Show, when Hillary Clinton told the black morning crew of a New York radio station that she carries hot sauce in her purse. That led to accusations that Clinton is just pandering to black voters, despite her well-known habit of eating hot peppers, and to get down to the bottom of the controversy, Colbert stole Clinton's purse (or a facsimile thereof).
