Hulu reportedly wants to start streaming cable and broadcast TV channels

Hulu is working on a subscription service that would allow people to stream broadcast and cable TV channels, anonymous sources familiar with the plan told The Wall Street Journal on Sunday. The service, which Hulu apparently plans to launch in the first quarter of 2017, is expected to include Disney offerings like ABC, ESPN, and the Disney Channel, as well as Fox's broadcast network.
Don't expect Hulu to offer the same range of channels as a traditional cable bundle, sources said. The service would also likely include a cloud-based digital recorder, the Journal reports, which would function much like more traditional on-demand services.
A media analyst estimated that Hulu's service could run about $40 per month.
