Watch a huge fireball blaze over the northeastern U.S.

Night owls across the northeastern United States were in for a surprise early Tuesday morning when an enormous "fireball event" took place.
"I was just driving near Exit 4 [along I-93 in Derry] and the whole sky, I mean it creeped me out, it just lit up green, really, really green," Keith Jameson of New Hampshire told WMUR 9. "It was just green and white and like a big flaming ball."
The American Meteor Society has received about 240 reports by witnesses who saw the event around 12:50 a.m. across Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ontario, and Québec. A "fireball" is a term for a "very bright meteor," according to the AMS (and they ask any witnesses to report sightings here).

"The boom I heard and felt, very loud and shook the home, unlike anything I have ever experienced before," Craig C. of Canton, Maine, reported to the AMS.
