Philadelphia gunman kills 1, wounds 5 in anti-cop rampage

A rampaging gunman in Philadelphia late Friday night shot six people, including two police officers, before he was fatally shot by police. One of the injured women died, and both officers were hospitalized in stable condition.
The incident began when the shooter silently approached police Sgt. Sylvia Young as she sat in her patrol car and opened fire. Young, who was protected by a bulletproof vest, radioed for help as the suspect fled. He shot five other people, among them one other officer, while attempting to escape.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said investigating officers found a "rambling" note expressing hatred for police which is believed to have been written by the shooter in advance of his attack.
