John Oliver has an interesting way of showing his respect for Jimmy Kimmel

Despite John Oliver's Last Week Tonight winning the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Series, Jimmy Kimmel welcomed him to his show on Monday night — kind of.

Kimmel, who hosted the 2016 Emmys and was also up for the same award, told Oliver it "pained" him to offer congratulations on the win, but Oliver had nothing but kind words in return. "Your show is absolutely excellent, too," he said. "You do a great job. I'm just so happy to be nominated with so many other great shows." Kimmel stopped him there to announce he has serious doubts about Oliver's sincerity for one big reason: He's reading off of cue cards.
