Sen. Marco Rubio (R) has been projected to successfully defend his Senate seat in Florida, beating Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy. The race was closely watched as it presented an opening for Democrats to take a badly needed seat in the tight nationwide Senate race.
Rubio had originally said he would not seek reelection after a failed presidential bid, only to announce he was running for reelection in late June.
