Darrell Issa, an eight-term Republican congressman, has narrowly won re-election in California's 49th congressional district.

It took several weeks to count late mail-in ballots and those filled out at polling places, and on Monday, with only a few left to tally, Issa has a 2,300 vote lead over Democrat Doug Applegate. Issa is the former chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the wealthiest member of Congress, making his money through a car alarm manufacturing business.
