HBO is having a rough week. This Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones leaked Friday morning, two days before its premiere date, an HBO spokesperson has confirmed. A low-quality version of "The Spoils of War," the fourth episode of Game of Thrones season 7, first appeared in a Reddit thread before circulating online.
The video features a watermark from Star India, HBO's distribution partner, with the phrase "For internal viewing only." "We take this breach very seriously and have immediately initiated forensic investigations at our and the technology partner's end to swiftly determine the cause," a spokesperson for Star India said in a statement.
Friday's leak is unrelated to the massive cyberattack that devastated HBO on Monday, when hackers stole 1.5 terabytes of data and released unaired episodes of shows including Room 104 and Ballers. A future Game of Thrones script was also released in Monday's breach. HBO is working with outside cybersecurity agencies and law enforcement to investigate the hack.
