Two people were killed and four others injured Monday afternoon in a shooting at the Clovis-Carver Public Library in Clovis, New Mexico, Clovis City Manager Tom Phelps said.

The shooter was arrested after he "surrendered peacefully," Phelps said, and the injured have been taken to local hospitals. The shooting took place shortly after 4 p.m. local time, and police surrounded the library for more than an hour. Phelps said he does not know the motive, and an investigation is underway.
