Prince Harry proposes to American actress Meghan Markle

On Monday morning, Britain's Prince Charles announced that his younger son, Prince Harry, is engaged to American actress Meghan Markle. Harry proposed in London earlier this month, and the wedding will be sometime in the spring.

This will be the first marriage for Prince Harry, 33, and the second for Markle, 36. The couple met through friends in July 2016, though their relationship was a secret for several months. Engagement rumors have been growing for months. King Edward VII, Queen Elizabeth's uncle, abdicated in 1936 in order to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson, but Britain's royal family has reportedly welcomed Markle's entry into the family. Harry is fifth in line to the throne.
