The Washington Capitals defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Thursday night, becoming the 2018 Stanley Cup champions.
This is the franchise's first Stanley Cup win in its 44-year history, and D.C.'s first city championship since the Redskins won the Super Bowl in 1992. Devante Smith-Pelly scored the tying goal midway through the third period, and Lars Eller delivered the winning goal not long after.
