Report: CNN's Chris Cuomo was also secretly recorded by Michael Cohen
Michael Cohen, President Trump's former personal lawyer and fixer, recorded a two-hour conversation he had earlier this year with CNN's Chris Cuomo about paying Stormy Daniels, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
It appears he recorded it secretly, and can be heard saying "I did it on my own," regarding making a $130,000 payment in 2016 to Daniels, the former adult film star who said she had an affair with Trump. Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has said Trump reimbursed Cohen for the payment, and the tape could be used by his legal team to put distance between Trump and the deal, the Journal reports.
During raids of his home, office, and hotel room in April, FBI agents seized a dozen tapes related to Trump, and on Tuesday night, Cuomo played an audio recording Cohen secretly made of a conversation with Trump. The pair discussed buying the rights to the story of a former Playboy model, Karen McDougal, who said she had an affair with Trump that ended in 2007. The Journal reports that Cohen is being investigated by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York for bank fraud and campaign finance violations.
