The Los Angeles Police Department says several people were injured on Monday night during a stampede at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood.

The crowd was there to see the rapper Phora, and although there was hired security, they were unable to handle how many people showed up, the LAPD said. Phora had tweeted he would be at the Shoe Palace in Hollywood, NBC Los Angeles reports, and thousands showed up to see him; the stampede occurred when he exited the store and started talking to the fans gathered outside. It's unknown how many people were hurt in the stampede, but the injuries are said to be minor.
