Democratic challenger concedes to indicted GOP Rep. Chris Collins
Indicted Rep. Chris Collins (R) will retain his seat in New York's 27th Congressional District, as The Buffalo News reports his Democratic challenger Nate McMurray conceded. With 89.7 percent of precincts reporting, Collins led McMurray by 1.5 percentage points, per the News.
Collins was President Trump's first supporter in Congress and seemed to have a secure hold on his deep red district. But in August, Collins was indicted on insider trading charges, leading Democrats to believe they might be able to flip the seat. Collins was arrested on the charges, but paid $500,000 in bail and opted to stay on the ballot.
