Joe Biden promises he will 'adjust' his behavior after inappropriate touching allegations
Former Vice President Joe Biden has released a new response after four women said he made them feel uncomfortable with inappropriate touching.
Biden in a video statement posted to Twitter on Wednesday said he has "always tried to make a human connection" with people throughout his career, which is "the way I've tried to show I care about them and that I'm listening."
But Biden said that "social norms have begun to change" and "the boundaries of protecting personal space have been reset, and I get it." He went on to say that "I hear what they're saying," and while saying he will "always believe" that governing — and life — is "about connecting with people," he promised that he will be "more mindful and respectful of people's personal space" going forward.
"The idea that I can't adjust to the fact that personal space is important — more important than it's ever been — is just not thinkable," Biden said. "I will."
Biden, who is expected to announce a 2020 presidential campaign in the coming weeks, had previously responded to the complaints from women who said he made them feel uncomfortable by saying that "not once - never - did I believe I acted inappropriately" but that "if it is suggested I did so, I will listen respectfully."
