It doesn't matter how many people sign the petition begging HBO to re-do the final season of Game of Thrones, the cable channel's president of programing said Wednesday — this will never, ever happen.

Many viewers and critics were vocal about their disappointment in the hit show's eighth and final season, saying the episodes felt rushed and storylines didn't make a lot of sense. More than 1.6 million people have signed a petition on Change.org, asking for a re-do with "competent writers," but HBO's Casey Bloys on Wednesday put a pin in their balloon, saying that while he appreciates how passionate fans are, they won't do the season over again.

In addition, the negative reaction won't affect the Game of Thrones prequel now in development, Bloys said. Starring Naomi Watts, filming for the first episode recently wrapped in Ireland, and the footage looks "really good," Bloys said.
