Watch Bernie Sanders' first TV ad of this election cycle

Sen. Bernie Sanders' (I-Vt.) 2020 ad strategy has essentially been the opposite of Joe Biden's.

In contrast to the former vice president's TV-heavy campaign, Sanders reserved his first TV ad run for this week. Its announcement comes just hours after Sanders revealed he'd taken in the largest quarterly fundraising haul of any 2020 campaign yet, but also amid a polling stumble in his campaign.

Sanders' ad features footage from his campaign rallies across the country and outlines some of his longtime political goals: raising wages, enacting universal health care, and fighting for civil rights, to name a few. A voiceover explains how President Trump has jeopardized those ideals, and then explains Sanders will fight to win them back. Sanders' campaign has so far spent $1.3 million to run the ad in 30- and 60-second spots starting Tuesday, CNN reports.

Biden, meanwhile, has barely spent any money on online advertising recently, but did buy $700,000 worth of TV ads across Iowa over the past few months.
