Brad Pitt wins his 1st Golden Globe for acting since 1996

Quentin Tarantino's latest just brought Brad Pitt his first Golden Globe for acting in more than 20 years.

Pitt on Sunday took home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture for his performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, beating out some tough competition in Tom Hanks, Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci.

This is only the second Golden Globe Pitt has received for a performance of his, with the actor having won his first in this same category for 12 Monkeys in 1996. Since then, Pitt was nominated for his performances in Babel, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Moneyball, but did not win.

In his acceptance speech, Pitt thanked "the man himself," Tarantino, as well as co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, getting in a Titanic joke by quipping, "I would have shared the raft."

Pitt is considered the frontrunner for the supporting actor award at the 2020 Oscars.
