Good Day, Bad Day
March 3, 2008
GOOD DAY FOR: The siesta, as a third of workers said they fell asleep or became very sleepy at work in the past month. The culprit, according to the National Sleep Foundation, is work—people are staying up later to finish the average four-and-a-half hours they bring home each week. On average, people go to sleep at 10:53 p.m. and wake up at 5:35 a.m. (AP in Yahoo! Finance)
BAD DAY FOR: Done deals, after the Air Force unexpectedly awarded a $35 billion airborne-refueling tanker contract to Northrop Grumman and Europe’s EADS, not Boeing. The contract could be worth $60 billion more in parts and maintenance. (MarketWatch) Boeing looked to have the contract wrapped up, before losing an initial deal in a procurement scandal.
