George Bush makes at least $100,000 for each of his paid speeches
An investigation from Politico has revealed that George W. Bush has earned tens of millions of dollars in speaking fees since 2009. Bush typically makes between $100,000 and $175,000 per paid speech, and he's delivered at least 200 of them in the last six years.
But Politico also notes that Bush's speeches have gained much less attention than speeches delivered by Bill and Hillary Clinton. Bush's paid speeches are often at private events, usually in hotel ballrooms, or in casinos and resorts. Some of Bush's recent speech audiences include the National Grocers Association, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, and the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America.
Lynne Sipiora, executive director of the Samaritan Inn, a Texas homeless shelter, told Politico that the shelter paid Bush $100,000 to speak at an event, saying that was "his regular fee." While Bush's speeches may not gain the attention that the Clintons' speeches might, Sipiora told Politico that Bush "was very popular and charming and pleasant."
