After meeting with President Obama at the White House on Thursday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) told reporters that he looks "forward to meeting with [Hillary Clinton] in the near future to see how we can work together to defeat Donald Trump." The sit-down with Obama happened at Sanders' request, and the president was reportedly hoping to convince Sanders to wind down his campaign in a way that could help the Democratic Party unify around Clinton.
Sanders said he would stay in the race until Washington, D.C.'s primary next week, and that he would "do everything in my power ... to make sure that Donald Trump does not become president of the United States." He called it "unbelievable" that the GOP has nominated a candidate that "makes bigotry and discrimination the cornerstones of his campaign."
