Corey Lewandowski is getting paid by both Trump and CNN
While it may seem like Donald Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has entirely moved on with his new gig as a CNN political contributor, it turns out Lewandowski hasn't yet severed all ties to his former boss. Turns out, Media Matters reports, Lewandowski is still getting severance pay from Trump's campaign — while he's simultaneously getting a check from CNN to comment on Trump's prospects in the presidential race.
Although Lewandowski was hired by the network nearly three weeks ago, his severance pay from the Trump campaign reportedly wasn't mentioned on-air until July 11 and 12, during introductory segments made by CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and host Don Lemon. The revelation has further fueled criticisms about the apparent conflicts of interest in the network's decision to hire Lewandowski, including the fact that he likely has "non-disclosure and likely non-disparagement agreements with the Trump campaign," Media Matters notes.
CNN has defended its hiring of Lewandowski by pointing out that some of its contributors have ties to Hillary Clinton's campaign, and that it regularly brings on political operatives. Head over to Media Matters for more.
