Sen. Tim Kaine says the Russia story is tumbling toward 'treason'
Former vice presidential candidate Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) announced "we are now beyond obstruction of justice" on Tuesday in reaction to mounting evidence that Donald Trump Jr. sought incriminating information about Hillary Clinton from a source he knew to be linked to the Russian government.
"This is moving into perjury, false statements, and even potentially treason," Kaine said.
Others have also expressed the seriousness of Trump Jr.'s statements, with Richard Painter, a George W. Bush administration ethics lawyer, saying the behavior "borders on treason" and MSNBC justice and security analyst Matthew Miller saying Trump Jr. could go to jail.
