1. John Kerry to meet Russian counterpart in Paris

While headed home from Saudi Arabia Saturday, Secretary of State John Kerry abruptly turned his plane around and traveled instead to Paris to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The two are expected to meet Sunday evening, two days after President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone, in hopes of reaching a diplomatic solution to the situation in Ukraine. As of yet, there has been no breakthrough on that front, with Russia insisting it was within its right to annex Crimea, and the U.S. and the international community alleging the annexation was a violation of international law and of Ukraine's sovereignty.
