Jacket required: Brunello Cucinelli talks blazer brilliance
Whether paired with formal trousers, jeans or even joggers, the blazer is this season's hero piece
For autumn/winter 2016, the piece in my collection that best expresses the mood of the season is the blazer. Like all Brunello Cucinelli tailoring, it is designed to be extremely lightweight and is engineered for comfort. My philosophy is all to do with producing clothing that is modern and comfortable, made using the skills and craftsmanship developed in Italy over the years.
My new blazer comes in plain fabrics or with a very light pattern, so you can wear it with anything – from formal attire to more sporty pieces. You can even wear it with joggers and trainers and I have these in my collection, designed in a way that is still elegantly Italian. The idea is that the blazer conveys chic sportiness but is sleek at the same time – because the blazer confers elegance to sport. In this way, the blazer absolutely rules for me this season.
Take your blazer, which may come from a suit combination that you break up, and mix and match with all kinds of trousers. Trousers are also very important and for autumn/winter 2016, they are slightly looser and wider – single-pleated, double-pleated, in denim or joggers. You can basically walk out of your home in the morning wearing a blazer and take in any daily events you might come across, from the most formal to the most relaxed. It's all about how you style this most versatile garment.
