The attack had left her "badly shaken but physically unharmed", he added.
Kardashian West was staying at a "discreet" luxury hotel near the Madeleine church in the city's 8th arrondissement, close to the Champs Elysee, when the incident took place, the BBC reports. It is unclear whether she was with any other members of the family or her children, North, three, and ten-month-old Saint.
A police official told CNN the men had handcuffed the hotel concierge and forced him to allow them into the TV personality's room at around 3am local time (2am BST).
Kardashian West's husband, rapper Kanye West, was appearing at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in New York at the time and left the stage upon hearing the news, citing a "family emergency".
France's Interior Ministry confirmed it was investigating a robbery involving the star and added that no injuries had been reported and no weapons discharged.
Kardashian West is worth more than $85m (£66m), according to an estimate from Fox Business, with her celebrity empire spanning everything from clothing lines to mobile apps.
She is in France for Paris Fashion Week, where sister Kendall Jenner walked the runway for Givenchy on Sunday evening.
