A 99-year-old woman turned to the police to help her realise a cherished bucket list dream of getting arrested.
The Dutch pensioner, named only as Annie, was duly handcuffed and locked in a cell by obliging officers in the city of Nijmegen, 75 miles south-east of Amsterdam.
Lieutenant Peter Smit told The Independent they heard of Annie's unusual desire when her niece reported a crime to them.

He added: "She wanted to be in a police cell because of her bucket list."
"In her life, [Annie] never committed any crime and thought it would be exciting to experience. As you can see in the picture from our post, she found it hilarious to be on the inside with the handcuffs."
Photos uploaded to the force's Facebook page show Annie grinning in delight as an officer claps her in irons.
However, the police admitted they were baffled by the law-abiding great-grandmother's secret wish.

He added that it was not a service generally offered to the public, but that they had "made an exception" for Annie.
