Inside track: Ascot's Village Enclosure
Ascot's new space will offer racegoers an exhilarating experience, at the heart of the action
This June, Ascot Racecourse is opening an exciting new spectator space, set in the centre of the racecourse and offering previously inaccessible, close-up views of the action. Launching for the biggest event on the racecourse's calendar, Royal Ascot, the new Village Enclosure will allow ticket-holders to see competing racehorses stampede by, mere metres away, from inside the track.
The Village Enclosure will be open on 22, 23 and 24 June - the final three days of Royal Ascot, an event that Ascot refer to as “like nowhere else”. The area will have a vibrant atmosphere, inspired by the communal nature of a village green, with live music, al fresco food stalls and boutique dining. Craft-drinks bars, a steady flow of champagne and late-night DJs will together conjure up the spirit of Britain's summertime "pop-up" scene.
However, it wouldn't be an Ascot event without a formal dress code - the Village Enclosure will follow the same rules as the Queen Anne Enclosure in this regard, with ladies required to wear a hat, headpiece or fascinator at all times, while strapless dresses, bare midriffs and shorts are not permitted; and gentlemen are required to wear a suit, shirt and tie. The new enclosure will allow more people than ever to attend the Royal Meeting, while ticket holders who prefer the more traditional Ascot experience will continue to receive the same high level of service to which they are accustomed.

To commemorate the occasion, globe-makers Bellerby & Co were commissioned to create a fantasy world based on the energy and excitement of Ascot events. Elements including horseracing, fine dining, high fashion, royalty and music are illustrated on a beautiful handmade globe entitled "A World Like Nowhere Else". The globe is currently on display at The Goring Hotel in London, and will go on a mini-tour of London and the South East over the coming months.
Tickets for Royal Ascot, 20-24 June, are currently on sale from £32 (or from £26 for groups). Tickets for the Village Enclosure are available from £60 (or from £49 for groups); ascot.co.uk
