Ice sculpting in Sweden
The annual unveiling of the fantastical new rooms at the Ice Hotel, which are sculpted afresh each year by teams of international artists, has become an event in its own right. Snowshoeing in the Alps
If taking to the slopes seems intimidating, this gentle form of exercise allows you to explore your snowy surrounds at your own pace, whether a relaxed stroll or tackling uphill terrain. In recent years, the use of fat bikes has been growing in popularity and it's easy to see why. The wider-than-usual tyres enable the rider to travel over ground not normally accessible by standard mountain bikes, including sand and, most importantly, snow.
