Properties: five most-viewed overseas homes of 2021 so far
Popular listings on Rightmove include mansions, villas and a bulletproof fortress
A Florida mansion and a bulletproof New York fortress are among the most-viewed overseas homes of the year so far, according to property website Rightmove.
Tim Bannister, Rightmove’s director of property, said: “Travelling abroad has been restricted for quite some time now, but these measures haven’t stopped the British public from scrolling through Rightmove Overseas to discover their favourite European villas and American mansions. There remains a huge appetite to view stunning overseas homes.”
Here we take a look at the five properties attracting plenty of attention on Rightmove Overseas.

1. Florida: £16.5m
400 South Mashta Drive, Key Biscayne, Florida, USA
This breathtaking Florida mansion is on the market for a cool £16.5m and the waterside home offers sublime vistas of Biscayne bay and Smugglers Cove. The six-bedroom residence is luxuriously elegant and some of its best features include a koi fish pond, a waterfront summer kitchen, a home movie theatre and a glorious outdoor swimming pool. The property is also bordered by a seawall and even boasts a private dock that can accommodate a 100ft yacht.
2. New York: £36m
Manhattan, New York, USA
This incredible New York townhouse is somewhat of a modern day fortress, as the six-bedroom property boasts a literally bulletproof exterior. A complex feat of impressive engineering has resulted in the construction of a grandiose, Herculean-strength glass façade on the £36m pad. The glass, which travelled from Germany to Spain where it was given its characteristic curved shape, was later laminated multiple times, while the seven-storey structure also comes with a private roof deck with 360-degree views across that iconic city skyline.
3. Mallorca: £13m
Camp de Mar, Mallorca, Spain
This nine-bedroom £13m mansion on the southwestern side of Mallorca has a striking modern design, reminiscent of a home you’d expect to see on a Californian hill, or featured on an episode of Selling Sunset. Almost every room of the villa has an amazing view of the sea, and the massive floor-to-ceiling doors and windows make the entire place bright and sunny. Among the many high-spec features included in this property are the two swimming pools - one indoor and one outdoor. Sometimes one pool just isn’t enough!
4. California: £28.72m
Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
This stunning six-bedroom Californian equestrian ranch, which is on the market for almost $40m (£28.72m), beautifully encapsulates all that is great about the Golden State. Rancho Latigo is tucked away deep in 4,600 acres of gorgeous rolling hills, boasting unparalleled vistas of the natural landscape surrounding it. To this day, this huge parcel of land remains largely untouched. A helipad offers a conveniently modern bonus, with access to Los Angeles and beyond, and in between games of tennis or horse riding trails, you can take a dip in the pool and enjoy breathtaking sunset views.
5. New York: £3.95m
Bedford Street, New York, USA
This characterful property in the heart of Manhattan’s West Village is a great renovation project for anyone with a spare £4m in the bank. Nestled on a picturesque tree-lined block, 10 Bedford Street is currently arranged as three separate homes: a three-bed upper duplex with a roof deck, a lower duplex with garden access, and a separate carriage house. The charming building could potentially be converted into a single family home, and it’s located just minutes away from a multitude of restaurants and boutiques.
