1. Bomb blast injures dozens in Bangkok
At least 28 people were injured after an explosion at an anti-government rally in Thailand's capital Sunday, sharply raising fears that the country is entering a worsening cycle of political violence. The early afternoon blast at Victory Monument came two days after a grenade blast Friday that killed one person and injured 39 others. [Wall Street Journal]

2. Mayor alleges Christie held Sandy funds hostage
Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer said on MSNBC's Up With Steve Kornacki Saturday morning that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie held Hurricane Sandy relief funds hostage to force her to approve a development plan that overly favored one specific property holder. Christie's office denied the allegations as "outlandishly false." The allegation comes on the tail of Christie's much-publicized bridge traffic scandal. [Huffington Post]

3. Dangerous conditions remain after L.A.-area wildfire
Hundreds of residents who fled a wildfire in the Los Angeles suburbs returned home Saturday as warnings of extremely dangerous fire conditions expired, but officials say that bone-dry winter conditions remain a threat for the region. The fire erupted early Thursday in the Angeles National Forest when Santa Ana winds hit a campfire that authorities said was recklessly set by three men. Five homes were destroyed and 17 other houses, garages, and other structures were damaged, according to early assessments. [Associated Press]

4. Leahy anticipates tough questioning for Holder
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy said on Fox News Sunday that he expects Attorney General Eric Holder to face tough questions about the White House's much-maligned surveillance program when he makes an appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 29. "There's going to be a lot of questions between both Republicans and Democrats concerned we're going too much into the privacy of Americans...Where's all this going?" Leahy said. 5. French first lady leaves the hospital
France's First Lady Valerie Trierweiler left the Paris hospital where she was admitted a week ago after reports emerged of an affair between President Francois Hollande and an actress. Closer magazine alleges the liaison between Hollande and Julie Gayet began during the 2012 presidential race. [BBC News]

6. Two charged with murder for attempted exorcism in Maryland
Two women charged with stabbing and killing two children in Germantown, Md., believed they were performing an exorcism, police said Sunday. Police charged both Monifa Denise Sanford and the mother, Zakieya Latrice Avery, with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder. [ABC News]

7. Rodman enters rehab
Outlandish former NBA star Dennis Rodman has checked into an alcohol-rehabilitation center after facing backlash for his visit to North Korea. [CNN]

8. Williams out at Australian Open
No. 1-ranked tennis player Serena Williams lost to No. 14 seed Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in the fourth round of the Australian Open on Saturday. The loss ended Williams's 25-match winning streak going back to August, before she won her fifth U.S. Open. [USA TODAY]

9. Screen Actors Guild honors American Hustle
American Hustle took the top prize at Saturday night's 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The film won outstanding performance by a movie cast, beating out 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club, August: Osage County, and Lee Daniels' The Butler. [People]

10. Zamata makes SNL debut
Saturday Night Live's first black female cast member since 2007, Sasheer Zamata, made her debut on the late-night show on Saturday. Rapper Drake was host and musical guest. Zamata was hired during auditions that followed backlash against the mostly white cast. [Entertainment Weekly]
