Show of the week: Brooklyn Nine-Nine
There haven’t been many cop comedies—Reno 911!s and Barney Millers—come to mind, but this one just might reach those heights.
Every network exceeds its quota of police dramas. But cop comedies? There haven’t been many Reno 911!s or Barney Millers, but this one just might reach those heights. Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg stars as a Brooklyn detective whose goofball ways are threatened by the arrival of a stern new captain (Andre Braugher). A cast of screwballs fills out the ranks, but it’s the interplay between Samberg and Braugher—who played a younger version of the same kind of character in Homicide: Life on the Street—that warrants close attention. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 8:30 p.m., Fox
