1. ARIZONA GOVERNOR DECLARES VICTORY

With the Supreme Court having upheld the controversial "show me your papers" provision of Arizona's immigration law, Gov. Jan Brewer (R) says law enforcement officials will begin enforcing the law immediately. "We will move forward instructing law enforcement to begin practicing what the United States Supreme Court has upheld," Brewer told reporters at a Monday press conference. "Today is a day when the key components of our efforts to protect the citizens of Arizona — to take up the fight against illegal immigration in a balanced and constitutional way — has unanimously been vindicated by the highest court in the land." The Supreme Court did strike down three important provisions of the law, including one that made it a crime for some immigrants to be without their registration papers. [Los Angeles Times]
