Route 66: The Complete Series
(Shout! Factory, $130)
This 1960–64 TV series makes “a fascinating time capsule,” said Newsday. Martin Milner and George Maharis star as friends traveling America in a Corvette, solving problems along the way. Keep an eye out for such pre-stardom guests as Martin Sheen, Alan Alda, and Robert Redford.

The Demoniacs
(Redemption, $20)
The French aren’t known for horror films—unless you consider director Jean Rollin’s peculiar oeuvre, said The Philadelphia Inquirer. Short on plot, long on lady vampires, his “fantastiques” were “oddly compelling” dreamscapes. This twisted 1974 pirate tale is among his most arresting.

Walking Tall: The Trilogy
(Shout! Factory, $25)
The hairstyles may appear dated, but 1973’s Walking Tall “holds up well,” said MySanAntonio.com. Joe Don Baker plays a Tennessee sheriff who turns vigilante after his wife’s death. The first sequel, starring Bo Svenson, “will put you to sleep,” but the series rebounded strongly with film three.
